Imagine spending six years waking up early, wearing your uniform, and studying late into the night, only to watch your classmates walk into the final exam hall without you. For many teenagers, that painful moment happens not because they failed their tests, but because their parents simply cannot find the money to pay for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Missing the WAEC exam means watching years of hard work stall in an instant. That is why the Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation stepped in with our WAEC Support Initiative. Across the 2025 and 2026 exam years, we paid the registration fees for 10 bright students, making sure financial hardship did not lock them out of their future.

For a child in senior secondary school, the final year is filled with hope. You are getting ready to graduate, pick a university course, or learn a trade. But behind closed doors, many parents face a quiet heartbreak as the registration deadline gets closer and closer.

“I wanted so badly to continue my education, but my parents told me they just didn’t have the money. I was supposed to finish SS3 and write WAEC in 2024, but financial hardship stopped us. In fact, 2023 was the last time I sat in a classroom. When 2025 came, my parents still couldn’t afford the fee. Then the Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation paid for my WAEC. I was so happy that day because I knew I was finally going to sit for the exam instead of waiting another empty year.”
– Adeoti Fawaz
“I honestly thought I wouldn’t write WAEC at all. My mom told me she couldn’t afford it, and I accepted it because there was nothing I could do. Then the Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation stepped in and paid for my exam. When my result came out, everything was perfect!”
– Mudashiru Aliyah
Helping 10 students write their WAEC exams was about far more than handing over registration money. It was about telling Adeoti, Mudashiru, and eight other young people that their hard work matters, and their future is worth fighting for.
At the Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation, we will keep standing by our youth, removing the hurdles in their way, and opening doors so every child in our community can step into a brighter tomorrow.
